About our property
The Cattle Stud and B&B Cottage are located on our property "Lone Hand" situated in Victoria's Central Highlands covering approximately 300 acres ( 120 hectares ). We purchased the property in 1999 from the Leishman family who had owned it for over 100 years. We live in the original 100 year old timber homestead with its wide verandahs, generous sized bedrooms and original pressed metal ceilings.
The property has seen many uses over the years, including gold mining, potato growing, Clydesdale and race horse breeding, grass seed production,cropping and fat lamb production. The Heatherington Cottage B&B was re-located to its current position and extensively renovated in 2007.
We are fortunate to be able to reap the rewards of early plantings of magnificent Cypress Pine trees which now surround the Homestead block.The garden features old fruit trees,a herb garden, croquet lawn and extensive rose bushes. Beyond the Homestead we have our own cricket oval and accompanying pavilion, courtesy of the previous owners!
